Anti-Money Laundering (AML)

Anti-Money Laundering (AML) refers to the rules and regulations put in place to prevent criminals from concealing illegally obtained funds as legitimate income. P2P lending platforms comply with those rules by: (1) customer due diligence – verifying the identity of investors (see KYC), and (2) transaction monitoring – screening activity on the platform for suspicious transactions, transactions from high-risk countries, customers subject to international sanctions or those classified as politically exposed persons (PEP).
